What news do writers put on their websites?

I write far more blogs on this site than news items, because I don’t really know what sort of news is needed. Do you want to know for instance that I’m expecting a second great-granddaughter at Christmas?
Or is it world news you’re after? Yesterday the Prime Minister actually listened to his cabinet and declared that the UK was going to accept a Palestinian state unless certain conditions were all fulfilled. He is said to be ‘merely’ appeasing his backbenchers – well I’m one of his silent voters who jolly well needed appeasing – so thanks for that, Keir!
Perhaps you want news of my personal friends? One of them was arrested in Cardiff, my home city, for holding up a placard against allowing small children to starve to death, and supporting Palestine Action. He was held in a police cell for 26 hours while his home was searched and his phone and laptop taken. His response within his cell was unheard of – he sang in full voice:
“How can I keep from singing?” A character in the novel I’m currently writing also sings in a police cell when he has been arrested on a demonstration – I’m now wondering what he will sing. “We shall overcome” was famous years ago – does anyone still sing that?
Or maybe I’m just supposed to remind you to look for holiday reading and buy my long-distance love story A DISTANT VOICE IN THE DARKNESS or my short stories FRESH BEGINNINGS?
