That story in particular was great fun to write. I’ve enjoyed many happy holidays throughout my life with my Danish relatives in Copenhagen. These experiences have enriched my storytelling.

But it's not the only story in the collection with the theme of time travel. The first story, Visitors, is set during a funeral back in 1969 on the day of the moon landing. In this tale, someone returns from the future to rectify a sad old failure. Unfortunately, in real life, this can never be done. Perhaps this is why we write stories—to explore the impossible.
